I was feeling a little lonely over the festive period. I've really been missing connecting with people and sometimes I can get so used to doing my own thing that it’s easy to forget that people need people!
Then, out of the blue, I received a couple of responsive, thoughtful messages from some folks whom I either don’t know that well or haven’t heard from in a while, but they took the time to send me messages of encouragement in response to some of my previous posts.
Yes these unexpected messages offered a gentle stroke to my ego but they did so much more than that. They created a connection between me and another person. In a world where it’s really easy to exist in the digital space and feel like no one else is out there, it was nice to have someone reach out.
So just a simple, ‘hey I’m getting in touch because I saw that thing you said / wrote / did and I felt xyz’ can really brighten someone’s day.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t know them that well.
Just be kind and reach out.
Takeaways
📗 The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It’s not exactly light reading but it is very interesting and having a healthier relationship with time is something I am working hard towards!
💫 I’m in the second phase of my Marvel rewatch and I had to take a little break because a) I get halfway through some of them and realise I’ve seen them already and b)….Thor 2 is loooong….and so I watched non-Marvel films Waitress and Encanto instead!
Don’t forget, you can always buy me a cuppa via Ko-Fi:
